Halloween, Pumpkin Patch, State Fair and More...

OK, I couldn't stand it.  These invitations have just gone out, but I had to put this in the post.  It is my first attempt at using Photoshop....from SCRATCH!!!  Brad took this picture of Ava at his best friend's photo studio and I pulled out about half of my hair figuring out how to create this on Photoshop.  Mercifully, it wasn't anything too difficult, just a steep learning curve!
This video is pretty blurry, but all you need to do is hear her to see what I am talking about.... Ava had been on this kick lately about getting married.  I'm not sure where this is coming from.  When I picked her up from school a couple of weeks ago, I asked her what she did that day at school.  The answer I received, very casually, was "Me and David got married.".  Hmmmm.  So when I asked what that meant....did they hold hands, kiss, etc...   I got, "Uh, YES. How else do you wake up Sleeping Beauty and live happily ever after?!"   Damn Walt Disney.   THIS week she told me that she loves Ethan and is going to marry HIM.  I was talking to her teacher and she said that that was accurate and that when Ava told David that she was going to marry Ethan now, David sat down and cried.  THEY ARE 3!!!!!  WTH????
Ava's school had a golf ball drop and sold golf balls to raise money for the school.  They had a helicopter drop the golf balls onto the soccer field and the person whose golf ball made it in the hole or closest to it won a 32 gig iPad 3G.  Not too shabby.  We ended up raising a ton of money for the school and the kids loved it!  I took Miles to sit with her class and watch the helicopter.  I had a hard time keeping him from escaping over the fence onto the soccer field.  So, I employed Ava and her friends to help me.  They had their hands full!

Ava with one of her BFF's Sriya.  Such a sweet little girl!
After the golf ball drop, Ava's class had PE in the gym and they asked Miles to join them.  He had a BLAST!  He took on the "bigger boys" in a game with a ball.  He was literally a blur.  The coach asked when he would be coming to school there.  If all goes well....August.  (He has to be fully potty-trained by his 3rd birthday to get to go.)  He is already going TeeTee in the potty a couple of times a day, so we are hopeful.

Here are a few of the photos Brad took the evening she had her "Photo Shoot".  She had such a good time!

Ava showing us the spider she drew with 8 legs.  It is a happy spider.
Now that the kids are sharing a room, each night is a new adventure.  This particular night they apparently decided to camp out on the floor between their beds with a few close friends and their turtle "stars" nightlight.   They would have stayed there all night had I not gone to cover them up in their beds before I went to sleep and found them like this!
This was the night of the photo shoot and they were completely spent!
Below, they were just cheezin one night when we were having movie night.
This video is a few weeks old, but I keep forgetting to post it.  This particular move is one of his favorites and if you make the mistake of laying down on our couch/bed/floor/etc... he will head straight for your tummy!  Miles is SO rough and so physical.  We are anxious to get him into martial arts classes once this soccer season is over so that he can channel some of that energy.  Unfortunately, most MA classes require you to be at least 4.
Ava's teacher, Mrs. Jamie, told us about a place that had a child size pedicure chair so that Ava didn't have to stand in the water.  She could sit and enjoy it like everyone else.  She loved the chair AND they have a DVD player mounted to it with movies for the kids to watch.  Talk about pampered!  They even painted flowers on her fingers and toes free of charge!

I can't believe that another year has gone by so quickly.  If feels like we JUST went to the State Fair!  Ava wanted to ride everything.  She loved the roller coaster, but wanted to go faster and higher.  Great, a thrill-seeker.  I have a thrill-seeker.

Meanwhile, Miles wasn't so sure about any of it.  He doesn't like unfamiliarity and loud noises.  So, like any other good mother, I forced him onto the rides.  Once he was on and saw Ava literally climbing up the rides, he seemed to enjoy them.

She rode practically every kids ride and wanted to ride the adult rides.

Ava eating cheesecake on a stick dipped in chocolate.  I think she had 3 bites, Brad had a bite and I had 2.  It was incredibly rich!  Who thinks of this stuff?!?!

We took the kids to a different pumpkin patch this year.  It had things we liked better and things we liked a little less.  I liked that they have a sunflower patch, the kids LOVED the corn pit probably more than anything else!
Miles in mid-flight.  He jumped, dove and crashed into this pit no less than 50 times!  He was in playing with Ava, Kinley and four of their cousins.  Ava kept getting corn kernels in her shoes, so she didn't find it quite as exciting.

This one was a bit heavy for Crash.
Momma's sweet, sweet baby boy!
Still trying...
They love to run...anywhere and everywhere anytime!
Helping Daddy with the pumpkins everyone picked out.  They had clippers for us to cut them off the vines and the stems were SO prickly!!!
It's official, she is no longer a little girl.  (sigh)  Such a pretty young lady!!
Running through the toddler hay maze.  It was pretty funny watching them meet dead ends and rethink their path!
Miles trying to get "sissy" in on the corn fun!  She wasn't having any of it!

Again, mid-flight.
Face painting!
It would have been cute if we had been here the last three years to have these pictures to compare.  Cute idea.
Wrestling while the cousins got their pictures taken.  It's nice that they are at an age where they can entertain themselves.

Sunflower patch!
My sweet, sassy, precious baby girl!

Hayride!  No one told Miles that you are supposed to SIT DOWN on these.

They apparently also forgot to tell him that maybe the other people on the hayride didn't want to be part of a HAY FIGHT!

This is all while the tractor was moving...He was relentless.

Hay was everywhere....and I do mean EVERYWHERE.

Pete and Sue are always taking the pictures so I never get to have any of them.  This is a rare shot and a good one!
This was as close as we could get to having his picture made in front of the board.  He just would not hold still.  What you can't see is the corn pit to the left that he promptly dove into the second after this was taken.  It was like catnip for kids!
Ava not exactly appreciating all the hay sticking to her stockings.
Cousins!
Kinley and her jacked-up jack-o-lantern.  Thank goodness she found some cardboard eyes and stuck in that top hole.  If you had seen it with just the two holes you would have been completely underwhelmed with her pumpkin carving abilities.  It was pretty funny....those holes just kept getting bigger and bigger and resembled, I don't know......NOTHING.
Ava with her pretty girl pumpkin.
I don't know that Miles actually sat still at all that day.  Seriously.  Miles' pumpkin is hard to see without a candle, but it is an owl.  The bottom holes are the feet.
Ava with Sriya and Nadia on their hayride on a field trip to another pumpkin patch with school.
There wasn't a lot to do at this one, but the kids just enjoyed going somewhere together outside of school and playing together.

I wanted Miles to be a pimp for Halloween this year.  I found this really cool purple velvet hat with a feather in it and thought he would be pretty cute with that and his hair, some gold chains, you get the picture.  But, he wanted to be Shrek.  I couldn't get him to wear the mask, so we just got the ears and sprayed his hair and painted his face.  These pictures were at his school's Halloween Carnival.

Ava dressed up for it too and they played a lot of games and trick-or-treated AGAIN.  They also had a fish fry that night and a costume contest, hayride and bouncy house.  It was a lot of fun.

Ava was Pinkalicious this year at her request.  She has all the Pinkalicious books and loves them.  For those of you who aren't familiar with Pinkalicious, she is a character in a book who eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink.  The character loves all things pink and her books are all riddled with pink puns.  (I had Sleeping Beauty standing by just in case she changed her mind at the last minute, since she had wavered a little when she first made her decision.)
Ava took 5th place in the costume contest and Miles took 3rd.
Miles standing next to Ava and Layne, his little girlfriend that is in his room at school.  Her mother and I used to work together.  She and Miles beam and yell each others names every morning when we are dropping them off.  They are always playing together when I pick him up.  He loves Layne!
I couldn't get him to stop licking or wiping his chin.  By the end of the night, he looked like he was wearing a mask!
Miles on the back of the Gator going to trunk-or-treat in our neighborhood.  Yet another night to dress up!  (They got to wear their costumes 4 times this year.  At least I got my money's worth!)
Our neighborhood sets up bouncy houses and slides, makes hot dogs for the kids, and lines the cul-de-sac with cars, 4-wheelers, etc. each one handing out candy to all the kids.  It is nice seeing our neighbors and their kids and the all the kids really have a good time.
Brad and I went as the swine flu this year.  It was all we could come up with on the fly.  Brad and Jim stayed on the Gator and handed out candy while Mom and I walked the kids up the cul-de-sac and back trick-or-treating and bouncing.

Ava climbing with Captain America.
She shed her tiara, shoes, and wings in two seconds to get on this thing!

Ava and Miles with John and Barbara's grandson, Jay.  I can't believe how big Jay is getting!  We were all getting ready to leave for  J &B's costume party.  I wish I had gotten pictures of some of the really creative costumes at their party, but I was too busy making sure that our kids weren't hanging from ceiling fans, surfing youtube on their computers or climbing across their beautifully set dining table!  Mercifully, Mom and Jim went to the party too and had the kids under a microscope so Brad and I were actually able to have a couple of drinks. We live next door, so no need to worry about one of us not drinking! Ha!
